Why Sponsor a Child?

Why Sponsor a Child? Here we detail important reasons why you should sponsor a child including our motivation for establishing www.child-sponsorship.com.

About www.child-sponsorship.com

For many years the owners of this site sponsored children in Africa, the first, Anthony, is now a grown man and a farmer. Sponsorship started when he was just six years old and over the years we built up a portfolio of firstly pictures (mainly trees!) and then the written word.

More recently we worked as professional charity fundraisers, encouraging others to sponsor a child for the equivalent of the cost of a daily newspaper. However, this latter activity was concerning for, as professional charity fundraisers, a significant part of the first year's sponsorship did not go to the child, but was taken as a professional fee. Even so, many young people were helped.

What was clear from this professional fundraising, was that although many were prepared to sponsor a child, a great number of them were concerned about the long term commitment. And its that long term commitment that a sponsored child needs. Knowing, for certain, that month in, month out, that small amount was guaranteed for essential health care, essential education and, of course, food. In some respects, unless you can commit to the child you sponsor into adulthood, perhaps you should not commit at all.

This site, therefore not only offers the opportunity to sponsor a child, but to contribute in other meaningful ways.

You can purchase a mosquito net, provide seeds, help with fresh drinking water, help with school books - all at a very small cost, but with a very big effect. Of course, you're welcome to come back and continue to make one off commitments, but even if you do it just once, you can really make a difference.

This website is not linked to any of the charities featured here, they merely represent some of the very best ways to help others by delivering high quality, effective programmes that have been developed alongside the communities they are involved with.

For further information regarding these charities, visit them direct and make a decision to make a difference.

You know you can, if you choose to.
