Children's Charities Africa

child-sponsorship.com was established over ten years ago in 2010 to provide a platform for small, community-based charities and NGOs to share information about their work and attract sponsorships for the children they work with. This was in response to those smaller charitable organisations not having the reach of the larger child sponsor charities and therefore not being able to connect with those who may be in a position to support their valuable work that makes a difference every day to children and young people across Africa. Without your support they often simply couldn't exist.

Although these small charities working in Africa are important, none more so than to the children and communities they work with, there are obviously larger children's charities working in Africa that some may wish to explore when considering child sponsorship opportunities. The team running child-sponsorship.com recently teamed up with the African Volunteer Network to create this new one -stop-shop for all your volunteering and child sponsorship opportuniies across Africa. They also wrote the 'Lighthouse Project' novel below that you might want to add to your bok collection to get insights into the lives of children and young people in rural sub-Saharan Africa in a sponsorship of volunteer setting. Enjoy!

The Lighthouse Project

On this page we provide a guide to some of them together with details of other charitable organisations that may not initially seem as obvious as child sponsor programs when wanting to support children but they undertake important work ensuring those children and their communituies have access to essential services and resources many in developed countries take for granted. Across Africa there is no social security safety net so if you get sick through drinking contaminated water for example, you can't go to school if achild, nor work to provide food for your afmily if an adult. Again, if you have a disability on a continent where much work is manual, your life chances aren't just impaired, they're often negligable. then imagine risking losing your eyesight simply because an operation is out of your financial reach. Imagine even harder if that happens whe your are just a child who had hope to look to the future with some hope. Please consider these projects as they are need of your help to make a real difference on a one-off or ongoing basis.
